This was disclosed by the Mobile Operator at the 90th edition of the telecom consumer parliament, which was organised by the NCC ( Nigerian Communications Commission ), in Lagos.
And there is a report by The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) that in May, the Nigerian Communications Commission ( NCC ) handed over the final letters of award of 5G spectrum licences to winners of the December 3.5GHz spectrum auctions.
So that's Why they were mandated by the NCC to roll out services in August.
And Reacting to the mandate during a panel discussion, Mr Chinedu Ezeigweneme ( The Representative of MTN Nigeria ), said MTN had put plans in place and working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth rollout.
During the discussion, NCC, stakeholders dispelled the fears that 5G network had some health implications.
Dr Bako Wakil, Director Technical Standards and Network Integrity at NCC, presented a paper on the theme of the parliament, and said there was no relevant health and safety authority that had confirmed any health hazards arising from 5G network.
Wakil however said 5G would provide many opportunities and benefits, and that would accelerate growth and smart living in the country.
He also said that the technology is expected to bring network improvements substantially, including higher connection speed, mobility and capacity, as well as low-latency capabilities.
